Mediation Fee Schedule

Mediation fees are charged on the basis of a fixed fee per party for each day or half-day of mediation. The fee is payable in advance either online or by check. Mediation fees are based upon: 1) the amount in controversy, and 2) the number of parties. The amount in controversy includes the total of all claims, including counterclaims and attorneys’ fees. All parties represented by the same attorney are considered one party for the purposes of the mediation fee. Otherwise, each party is charged a separate fee.

A typical full day mediation usually commences at 9:30 am and will end at or about 5:30 pm. Full day mediations (unless they are online Zoom mediations) include a working lunch. If the mediation extends past eight hours, the mediator reserves the right to charge an additional hourly fee for the added hours.

Half-day mediations will commence at either 9:30 am or 1:30 pm and end at 1:30 pm or 5:30 pm, respectively.

Schedule of Fees per Party per Mediation Day

Number of Parties – 2 or 3

Number of Parties – 4 or more

$1,800-$2,200/party

$1,250/party

Half-Day Mediation Fees

Half day mediations are offered at $950-$1,250 depending upon the amount in controversy, the complexity of the case and the number of parties. Half day mediation are for four hours and generally are held from 9:30am to 1:30pm or from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. If the mediation exceeds four hours, the parties may be charged an additional fee of $400/hour.

If the foregoing fee schedule is inappropriate to a particular case, I am willing to discuss alternatives.

Fee Cancellation Policy

Late cancellation of mediations causes a variety of problems for all concerned. To minimize this problem, the following late cancellation policy will apply. If a mediation is cancelled 14 or fewer days prior to the scheduled mediation date, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total fee may be charged to the cancelling party. Cancellations due to illness or counsel's assignment to trial will bear no cancellation fee nor will resets if we are able to fill your date with another mediation.

Expenses

Occasionally, it is necessary to incur certain expenses for large, multi-party complex cases. Examples include larger hearing rooms and/or additional caucus rooms. Such expenses will be identified and disclosed in advance and agreed to by the parties prior to invoicing by the mediator. I aim to provide quality, efficient and affordable mediations.
